Cornell University researchers tried to show how an outside observer would see the planet if he observed it through a telescope. Used about 10 thousand images of the planet, obtained from the NASA DSCOVR satellite. Pictures were taken about a year in the zone of the so-called gravitational balance between our planet and the daytime star. Photos were taken hourly in different wavelength ranges.
Then, the resulting images were reduced to simulate the distance. Next, astronomers looked in the photo for details that characterized the brightest terrestrial areas. For example, it could be the silhouettes of the continents.
As a result, scientists obtained a two-dimensional map of the earth's surface. It is reconstructed according to the gloss testimony. The spectral properties were not taken into account. A study by American scientists is the basis for creating characteristics of exoplanets similar to Earth. Each image is presented in different colors so that you can compare them.
The resulting simulation of a two-dimensional image shows how our planet is visible from parts of the cosmos outside the solar system.
This view is about the same as from a distance of several light years.By the way, at a distance of more than 4 light years from Earth, there is the nearest star, the Alpha Centauri. A similar image may be in its vicinity.
The indicated method shows whether there is an atmosphere on the planet, clouds in it, water in a liquid state and other conditions without which the existence of protein life is impossible. The exact image of the planet from such a great distance has not yet been obtained with the technical equipment available today.
Perhaps the development of American scientists will shed light on the problems of the search for extraterrestrial life and will bring us closer to guessing the question of whether there is at least one more civilization in the universe similar to ours.
